As we have seen the way side, the stony places and the thorns all need to be removed out of one’s life for the seed of the Holy Spirit to take root and grow so that the fruits some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty can come to pass. Check your life and ask God what needs to go. Only the good ground produces fruit to life with God.

Revelation 22:1 river out of the throne and of the Lamb

It can be deducted that to be born again one must receive the Word of God that is proceeding from the Lamb and the throne. It can also be ducted that the Word of God flows from where God is. On the day that Jesus hung from the cross a man was promised to be in paradise on that very day with Jesus.  The authority used by Jesus was that he was God all the while he was hanging from the cross. All spoken words from Jesus as he hung on the cross can be applied to Revelation 22:1 as He had the authority to give eternal life to a thief that deserved to die in his sins. This sinner was baptized in the Word of God while he hung from his own cross.

Luke 23:39-43 (43) today you will be with me in paradise

I Corinthians 10:1-5  (2) baptized unto Moses [Matthew 26:26-30 & John 4:1-42]

As Jesus finished speaking the words from Luke 23:43 the thief that hung across from Him was baptized in the Word of God. This is due to the fact that as Jesus hung from the cross He retained all authority of God; therefore He was able to promise with His Word {John 1:1} that this man would be with Him in paradise.  When we are holy presented unto God the following attributes are enabled:  see scriptures below

Galatians 5:22-26 [fruits of the Spirit]

John 1:1-5 [4] in Him was life

As the Word is God and the Word is with God it is easy to apply holiness to the promises that Jesus speaks. He said to be holy as I am holy was applied to the thief as he repented of his sinfulness and his sinful nature. Jesus recognized his repented state and rewarded him with eternal life in the presence of God and all His Holy creation[Matthew 10:33]. It could be said that this thief was not tested as he was given eternal life at his crucifixion just before he was to die. It could be counter argued that his test of faith was to announce to the world that the man hanging across from him was the only one that had the authority to save him. I say that he passed with flying colors because Jesus pronounced an eternal blessing on him. The other thief was not as blessed as he failed to recognize the deity of the man across from him. The Word of God is a blessing or it is a pronunciation of a curse [John 12:47-48]. Recognize the deity of Jesus and receive a blessing in holiness or denounce Jesus as God and the same spoken Word of God will be a curse to you.

[5] water and the Spirit – the things of God are {inward} to be borne of the spirit is “from within”, therefore the part from vs. 5 “born of water” is also an inward standard or a wailing up of emotion that produced tears as the baptism of repentance is falling on the one that is being born of the spirit – in other words looking at the natural berth the pre-curser to a child being born is this statement “MY WATER BROKE”. According to Jesus in vs. 5 spiritual berth follows after being born of the water.

The Origin of Receiving the Holy Spirit in Man Part XV Conclusion Acts 17:11; Proverbs 19:14-16

Change occurs in life and is represented by events that may bring us to our knees.

a) Genesis 12:1-3 God said to Abram I will make you a great nation.

Genesis 15:18 the Lord made a covenant with Abram

A new name has been given to Abram and Sarai signifying a new chapter in their lives.

Genesis 17:1-22 God called Abram – Abraham and Sarai – Sarah

[4] father of many nations

[5] Abram to Abraham

[16] Sarai to Sarah a mother of nations

b) Jeremiah 1:4-5 before the womb I knew you and I ordained you a prophet

God knows you and is willing to call you out from dark places even when you enter them willingly.

a) Genesis 2:15-16 on the day you eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall surly die.

b) Genesis 3:1-19 [6-7] [10] the event (fall) sending out the curses, the man the woman and the serpent

c) John 4:1-26 [10] [14] [23-24] [26] the Samaritan woman at the well; John 4:31-34 [31-32] I have meet that you know not of. [34] my meet is to do the will of him that sent me.

d) The New Birth of the Earth as Described in the Flood of Noah as applied to the New Birth of Man

John 3.1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:  2. The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.  4. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.  6. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.  7. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.  8. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

e) Contrast Genesis 1:1-5 with Acts 26:17-20 (light and darkness)

III. Life returns to the body as sin is overcome.

a) Luke 8:40-56 (54-55) after Jesus raised the girl from the dead he commanded she be given something to eat. The body needs natural food to eat after resurrection and the spirit need spiritual food to sustain growth after being born again.

b) John 19:38-42. While the body of Jesus was dead, it lay in a stone tomb and there was no life nor was there breath in it. The same goes for us until the moment that God breathes life into us. (Genesis 2:7)  (II Corinthians 4:16-18; Ephesians 3:14-19 [16]; Romans 7:22)

c) John 3:7-8 [8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

This is a response that Jesus gives to Nicodemus about being borne again/born of the spirit.

d) Matthew 26:26-29 Jesus said take eat this is my body and drink as this is my blood of the new testament for the remission of sins. Upon returning to the spirit we must feed on spiritual food and drink for the sustainment of the inner man.

e) Mark 4:1-20 parable of the four soils (the broken ground) thorns & rocks pull up and pull out = broken ground or ready to receive

                1-2 introduction

                3-4 wayside

                5 -6 stony ground

                7 thorns

8 good ground yield fruit – some thirty fold – sixty fold – some a hundred fold

9 he who has an ear let him hear

10-13 Jesus with his disciples – all parables

14 the word and beginning of the explanation

                15 wayside explained

16-17 stony ground explained – no root in themselves

18-19 among thorns explained – chokes the word – becomes unfruitful

20 good ground explained some thirty fold – sixty fold – some a hundred fold

f) Mark 4:26-29 parable of the seed ~ so is the kingdom of God

John 12:23-26 wheat fall and dies

g) As we have seen the way side, the stony places and the thorns all need to be removed out of one’s life for the seed of the Holy Spirit to take root and grow so that the fruits some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty can come to pass. Check your life and ask God what needs to go. Only the good ground produces fruit to life with God.

Final conclusion

Die out to the desire of sin as Jesus died on the cross then Jesus will give life to your spirit. The need to die out to the desires of sin is a result of the events of Genesis 3:6-7 in this passage sin began to reign and rule mankind.  The only remedy for sin ruling a person’s life is Jesus Christ in an act of re-creation of the spirit of man (or woman) to desire a Holy Spirit filled and led life.  See also Jeremiah 31:31-37; Ezekiel 11:17-21, 18:30-32, 36:25-28 (a new heart).  This re-creation of life of your spirit can be compared to Genesis 2:7.  When reading the account of sin in Genesis chapter 3 God never mentioned that a provision for restoration would not come.  If anything Genesis chapter 3 left us with hope through faith that as God covered us with coats of skin (Genesis 3:21) a greater provision was to come allowing mankind access to Jesus Christ through the purchased possession (Ephesians 1:13-14).  Now read the following account of the old testament of sin.  This section flows backwards from sin taking hold of mankind to God breathing life into the very nature of man.  The reason that the flow of scripture is backwards for the following Old Testament scriptures is because the next section of scriptures from the New Testament flow forward for restoration to holiness.  In other words the remedy given for the flow of the occurrence of sin is reversed in the New Testament bringing in the new birth that is explained by Jesus in John 3:1-21.

a) Come to an understanding that you must die to sin

(Old Testament backward – New Testament forward)

  • Remorse or Godly sorrow
  • Genesis 3:6-10 eyes opened- spiritual death/ hid from God
  • John 18:28-38 Jesus before Pilate [38] no fault in Him at all (Matthew 27:11-14)

b) Die to sin by acknowledging your sin to God and the people or person that you have sinned against. (Old Testament backward – New Testament forward)

  • Repentance
  • Genesis 2:15-17 the tree of knowledge of good and evil
  • John 19:28-30 it is finished as spoken by Jesus on the cross                                           c) Allow the father to revive your spirit and be born again

(Old Testament backward – New Testament forward)

  • Revival
  • Genesis 2:7 breath of life
  • John 20:1-10 [*9] Jesus must rise again from the dead                                                       e) Follow after the ways of God by feeding from spiritual food and spiritual drink always walking with God.

(Old Testament backward – New Testament forward)

  • Renewal
  • Genesis 1:26-27 make man in our image and our likeness. Then move forward in the re-creation not hitting again the stumbling block of being led by sin.
  • John 20:19-23 [22] receive the Holy Ghost & Titus 3:5 renewing of the Holy Ghost f) See the following scriptures that apply to Genesis 2:7 & John 20:1-10 from [section V. c] above.

Genesis 3:21; Psalms 16:1-11 [*10]; Romans 6:1-10 [*4]; Psalms 49:14-15; Psalms 132:1-18 [*11-12]; Isaiah 63:11; Hosea 6:1-2; John 5:21; John 6:39-40; Acts 2:31-38; Galatians 6:15

g) We answer that call (from God) by laying our sin nature aside by dying out to being controlled by the desires of sin and laying our sin at the cross of Jesus. Once the natural man dies out to the old nature the nature of Jesus is “born again” and we are filled by the “breath of life” and reborn to walk in the ways and manner of Jesus Christ the Son of God.

h) The Spirit is in the breath of God and when he breaths it into man they become a living spirit. The spirit of man is re-born at the moment God breathes life into us. We can’t define the process of salvation until we understand how a man perceives that he is a sinner.

i) Genesis 1:1-5. In verse 1 it is written that God created the heaven and earth and that has been established as truth. In verse 2 the earth was formless and void with darkness everywhere.  Then the Spirit moved upon the face of the waters.  And God said – (a creative act starts with the word of God) – [let there be light] and there was light.  In verse 4 God saw the light and said it was good.  Then God separated the light from the darkness.  In verse 5 God named the light day and the night darkness.  Now apply the creation of Genesis 1:1-5 to the sinner.  [1] In the beginning God created the man.  [2] The man was formless and void not in the image of God.   And then the Spirit of God moved over the man.  [3] Then God spoke with his breath and it was heard.  He spoke life into the man that was formless and void full of sin and the man became borne again in the image and likeness of God.  [4] Then God divided the sin from righteousness separating the light from the darkness.   [5] This is the first day of the born again state of the man to walk no more in sin.

j) Romans 10: 14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
