[AMP] 16But I say, walk habitually in the [Holy] Spirit [seek Him and be responsive to His guidance], and then you will certainly not carry out the desire of the sinful nature [which responds impulsively without regard for God and His precepts].

[NLTSBN] Ga 5:16-26 Just as love fulfills the law (5:13-15), another answer to the objection that a law-free faith will lead to lawlessness is that those who live by faith have the Holy Spirit to guide their lives. The Holy Spirit changes people’s hearts and instructs them to do the will of God and not sin (cp. Je 31:33; Heb 8:10).

From the Blue Letter Bible: Strong’s Definition

Walk: περιπατέω peripatéō, per-ee-pat-eh’-o; from G4012 and G3961; to tread all around, i.e. walk at large (especially as proof of ability); figuratively, to live, deport oneself, follow(as a companion or votary):—go, be occupied with, walk(about).

Spirit: πνεῦμα pneûma, pnyoo’-mah; from G4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ’s spirit, the Holy Spirit:—ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind. Compare G5590.

Flesh: σάρξ sárx, sarx; probably from the base of G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by implication) human nature(with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specially), a human being(as such):—carnal(-ly, + -ly minded), flesh(-ly).

I say**Galatians 3:17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.

Walk**Galatians 6:8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.

[and]**Colossians 3:5 Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:

6For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:

7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.

8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;

10And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:

ye shall not fulfilthe lust of the flesh: **I John 2:15-16

15Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

16For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father,but is of the world.
